[00:14:53] <aysah> quick question guys.. im pretty happy with my SmartOS/Fifo box and I'm looking to convert another one of my vmware boxes over so I can expand a little.. my question is - will any of my custom datasets copy over to the new boxes?
[00:15:10] <aysah> how does that work?

[00:17:20] <MerlinDMC> if you add a 2. compute node - fairydust!
[00:17:46] <MerlinDMC> fifo has the dataset repository in the zone or in leofs
[00:18:43] <MerlinDMC> in both cases the new compute node should be able to pull those in via chunter
[00:18:43] <MerlinDMC> if not ... this would be a bug for me
[00:26:26] <aysah> awesome - i just wanted to be sure that everytime i made a new machine with a custom dataset that it wouldnt tax my network and pull from the first server
[00:27:32] <aysah> last question, once i make a fifo cluster will the web interface be accessible via a dns name that references multiple fifo installations?
[00:30:42] <MerlinDMC> can't tell as I don't use fifo ... but the australians should get up soon
[00:30:58] <aysah> haha k
[00:31:08] <aysah> thanks for your help man
[00:31:13] <aysah> o.0

[02:12:02] <konobi> Licenser: still no luck?
[02:22:30] <DigiDaz> Hi all, this leofs thing, just trying to get my head around it, it appears that it replicates so if I install it on multiple hypervisors does that mean backups will be automatically replicated to other hypervisors?

[06:59:28] <Licenser> DigiDaz backups will be replacated via leofs but they're in a different storage they're not on the /zones pool

[09:43:01] <DigiDaz> Licenser: Thanks, so I guess it wouldn't be too difficult in the event of a hypervisor failure, to restore from the leofs to a different hypervisor?

[10:41:39] <DigiDaz> Licenser: This is getting interesting, for some time I've been wanting to get away from using a SAN but retain ZFS, this could be the thing for me :)
[10:42:59] <DigiDaz> Licenser: One more question please, is it possible to live migrate between hypervisors?
[10:43:24] <MerlinDMC> DigiDaz, smartos has no live migrate
[10:43:41] <MerlinDMC> you can migrate ... but not live migrate

[10:44:09] <liyu_> anyone ever seen this?
[10:44:39] <liyu_> this is found while a failed dataset import with PyFi from leofs/gateway
[10:44:59] <DigiDaz> MerlinDMC: Thanks
[10:47:00] <DigiDaz> MerlinDMC: Will project-fifo be OK on AMD kit if just using zones?
[10:48:53] <MerlinDMC> fifo doesn't care about the processor afaik
[10:49:08] <MerlinDMC> and smartos with zones did run fine on amd boxes
[10:50:56] <DigiDaz> Cool, I believe there's a problem with kvm on AMD but I'm trying to get away from that, I have cheap amd 6 core that blazes along that needs a home and a 1u case with about 6 drives in so I may fire it in the datacenter as a target for the leofs backups and as emergency standby
