[15:51:36] <kapsel> if scrub does not fix that, any idea what can except to recreate the pool?
[15:51:56] <kapsel> it's for a backupserver and I have the data elsewhere, but pretty time consuming to move around ~400TB :(
[15:52:54] <kapsel> lost a couple of disks at around the same time because of a backplane/jbod failure and have had problems with the pool ever since. scrub/resilver continues to detect checksum errors in the particular vdev that was affected by the failure.
[15:59:25] <monsted> well, the checksum error would likely be what's making that "file" unavailable

[21:58:23] <problame> A few days ago, I reported about zfs destroys of snapshots and bookmarks taking 5--10s on a pool with ca 8000 snapshots, 300 per filesystem. I did some profiling in the meantime: the commands did a bit of computation in the kernel and then went to sleep in dsl_sync_task, for `dsl_bookmark_destroy`, `dsl_dataset_snapshot`, `dsl_destroy_snapshots_nvl`, etc. Is this expected behavior?
[22:02:59] <DHE> it is normal for administrative tools to hang for a second in a sync function because the tool waits for the pool to do a transaction flush to disk before returning.
[22:03:13] <DHE> snapshots do the same thing, but the bulk delete options allows it to be less of an impact
[22:10:21] <problame> DHE: ok, I guess that makes sense. The bulk delete options only work for ranges of snapshots, right? I need to delete a random amount of snapshots. My current solution is to spawn N zfs destroys in parallel. They all block more or less instantly, thus don't cause a spike in load. Do you know a better way?

[23:38:09] <DHE> problame: ZFS channel programs (ZCP) is an upcoming feature where you can write a script that's run in the OS itself and can issue multiple destroy commands in parallel. so that makes many possibilities
