I'm sorry to say I haven't been able to repair it, but you can get your system booted by using a USB stick with the installation media on it.[08:05:45] <albatrosdk> You just boot off of the USB stick, hit ESC when the bootmenu(hipster logo) shows up.[08:06:49] <albatrosdk> At the 'ok' prompt you type in: lsdev and it should show you your devices. If you reboot you will have to go through this again. I found the cause of this... The /var/svc/log/application-graphical-login-lightdm:default.log had an error message that the .Xauthority file could not be opened du to 'Permission denied'.[18:35:43] <headw> I checked the permissions on that file (SSH into the box from another computer) and it was '600' with the owner being 'root'. I'm not sure how it got set to that permission/owner.
