[00:37:28] <victori> so switched to nexenta from opensolaris snv98
[00:37:39] <victori> zfs is a *lot* faster on the newer builds
[00:48:35] <Joe_____> anyone ever switched a HVM Guest VM of NCP 3 to boot as a PV Guest?
[00:49:41] <victori> how can you check which version of ncp that you have?
[00:49:49] <victori> uname -a ; cat /etc/motd has no details
[01:15:41] <Triskelios> Joe_____: yes
[01:16:16] <Joe_____> where did you get your instructions
[01:17:06] <Triskelios> Joe_____: http://justindthomas.wordpress.com/category/nexenta/
[01:17:23] <Joe_____> thanks a bunch
[01:18:41] <Triskelios> it would be a lot easier if we included the Xen platform files in the miniroot (which is required to reimport the pool once)
[01:20:33] <Triskelios> you can use /boot/x86.miniroot-safe instead of the one on the CD
[01:20:44] <Triskelios> but it still needs the files added
[01:21:13] <Joe_____> I'm using XCP 1.0 which is running xen 3.x so this should still be good right
[01:21:30] <Triskelios> yes
[01:21:55] <Joe_____> ok thanks

[12:25:42] <MACscr> so im trying out nexentastor within a virtualbox and i do have the nic bridged within virtualbox. I also have dhcp enabled on my lan. Anyway, for some reason when nexentastor was installed, it received an ip that is not correct. How can i force nexenta to get a new ip from dhcp? Simply restarting doesnt seem to do the trick.
[12:30:19] <MACscr> nvm, found out i needed to run: svcadm enable nwam
[12:30:36] <MACscr> seems its a bug that existed 5 months ago, but still wasnt fixed =/
[12:56:30] <eXeC001er> MACscr: what do you mean "received an ip that is not correct." ?
[13:33:54] <Andys^> MACscr: aaaah are you serious? that has been bugging me!

[21:55:15] <Triskelios> victori: that doesn't look related to the panic you pasted at all
[21:55:46] <Triskelios> victori: you need more than one line, though
[21:55:51] <victori> Triskelios: richlowe asked me to try a few other commands and confirmed it was that
[21:56:13] <victori> http://pastebooth.com/sAMHg
[21:56:39] <Triskelios> okay, 242 is fixed in 3.1
[21:57:03] <victori> also considering the box gets substantial amount of traffic, so hitting this bug is likely
[21:57:10] <victori> Triskelios: anyway for me to update to 3.1?
[21:57:45] <Triskelios> not yet. how are you encountering the issue?
[21:57:58] <victori> yea last night when I first deployed nexenta into product
[21:58:02] <victori> production*
[21:58:19] <victori> snv98 has been really stable, anything past snv98 has been a crap shoot in stability
[21:59:48] <Triskelios> steps to reproduce?
[21:59:54] <victori> literally deployed at 12am midnight pst, hit the bug at 8-9PST during traffic spike
[22:00:12] <victori> Triskelios don't know -- I was asleep when it happened, just services running I guess
[22:00:20] <Triskelios> this is a normal NS 3.0.5 configuration?
[22:00:45] <victori> NCP updated to the latest version
[22:00:47] <victori> yes
[22:01:15] <victori> hosting is run through zones if that matters
[22:02:22] <Triskelios> okay, that's literally not supported..
[22:02:42] <victori> what is not supported specifically?
[22:02:49] <victori> ncp or hosting through zones?
[22:03:19] <Triskelios> the latter
[22:04:23] <victori> bummer, one of the reasons I actually decided to use solaris over alternatives
[22:04:44] <victori> any eta on 3.1 by any chance?
[22:05:32] <Triskelios> should be within the next month

[22:07:58] <victori> 3.1 will be based of illumos or?
[22:09:20] <Triskelios> the 3.x releases will continue to be based on our ON fork
[22:10:57] <victori> Just curious not that we are making any money on the hosting, but if we did have a support contract would that cover this edge case?
[22:12:16] <victori> oh wait right, unsupported.
[22:12:29] <Triskelios> we only sell support for NexentaStor proper, yeah
