[16:36:18] <Tekni> that isn't even packaged for debian as far as I can tell
[16:37:28] <Tekni> it's one thing to rebuild from a source package, and something else entirely to package something from raw source

[18:41:58] <asqui> OK so i figured out the issue with SSH *facepalm*
[18:42:35] <asqui> It turns out even if you have no password on an account and you are trying to auth with keys, SSH will by default block the login because it considers the password is not set on the account - it doesnt just block password as an auth method

[18:43:45] <matsimon> Is it AllowEmptyPassword as in OpenSSH?

[18:45:23] <matsimon> Sorry it's "PermitEmptyPasswords yes" in /etc/ssh/sshd_config (in Debian, don't have NCP3 on laptop ) ;)
[18:45:55] <asqui> yeah - my worry is that i don't want people to be able to auth using password method on an account with empty password
[18:46:09] <asqui> i just set a password on the account for now
[18:46:32] <matsimon> just disable password auth and that should be sufficient to restrict that
[18:47:07] <matsimon> If you disable any auth method except key based, it will fail if no key is presented at login

[19:28:44] <metropolio> hi, does anyone know how to expand the TB limit on a community license?
[19:30:42] <eXeC001er> metropolio: need to buy Enterprise License
[19:30:58] <metropolio> well, for some reason, our community license is at 8TB
[19:31:19] <metropolio> but from what i can tell, you can get a 12TB license. is it possible to expand our license to 12TB?
[19:31:25] <eXeC001er> now CE limit is 18 TB
[19:32:27] <Triskelios> the web site won't let you request a new licence?

[19:33:13] <Triskelios> eXeC001er: I imagine this is an older system that was upgraded. is the limit encoded in the licence string?

[22:37:25] <asqui> has anyone here used netcat on Nexenta to copy files?
[22:37:43] <asqui> for some reason I can't get "nc" to close out the connection when it receives EOF
[22:37:50] <asqui> doing something simple like:
[22:37:58] <asqui> nc -l -p 10000 > file.out
[22:38:01] <asqui> and in antoher term
[22:38:05] <asqui> nc localhost 10000 < file.in
[22:38:29] <asqui> puts the contents into file.out... but the commands never return.. they just sit there sleeping
[22:43:09] <Triskelios> yeah, it seems to ignore EOF when reading from stdin
[22:43:18] <Triskelios> why are you using nc to copy files, anyway?
[22:43:54] <asqui> is that a bug or is there an option to tell it to listen to it?
[22:45:03] <Triskelios> I think it's a bug
[22:47:08] <asqui> it seems if I add "-q 0" to the sender that it works
[22:47:50] <asqui> an option that is not on the man page, but only in the -h help out put!
[22:47:51] <asqui> -q secs quit after EOF on stdin and delay of secs
[22:48:23] <Triskelios> the manpage is for a completely different version
[22:50:22] <asqui> hrm.. not super awesome
[22:50:49] <asqui> oh and to answer your earlier question, i'm using netcat to stream a database backup over the network
[22:51:02] <asqui> so i run the backup software and pipe the tar stream through netcat to the nexenta backup host
[22:51:25] <asqui> then we can use ZFS filesystem compression to save on space and still have the files logically accessible easily
