I'm using xfce edition so the steps might differ to be honest, but generally you need to uninstall the proprietary drivers first and then install free drivers afterwards. with no interruptions, no black screens, until desktop autologin. I left the i3 statusbar at bottom so it is easy to see when i3 window manager is loaded. Is anyone able to help figure out how to get rid of the black screen disruptions?
