ports can run on a system without macports installed. I am running osx 10.6.8 and struggling to install universal media server and bubbleupnp server. In both instances the problem I am having is that I can not get a ffmpeg static binary to run on my system properly. This has what brought me to macports and where I fe[18:48:11] <thelonedoc> I asked about it last night and someone said it might not be possible to make a static binary, but this is a common practice when it comes to fmpeg. Many apps include a static binary of ffmpeg and I have found instructions on how to compile your own. The problem is that you need to be running t least osx 10.7 to compile one. Unfortunately I have to stay with snow leopard.[18:50:30] <thelonedoc> Now if they mean that it is impossible to make a ported static binary, is it possible that I need to do something else to my system that will allow these existing ffmpeg static binaries to run? Are there other things that should be installed on my system first?
