[14:49:26] <jonascj> I'm fooling around with iRedMail for personal use / learning. I have a question about port 25. My mail client (MUA) does not use port 25 to contact my iRedMail SMTP, it uses 587 for TLS. So what is port 25 needed for? If other mail servers (say Google's or microsoft's) use port 25 to deliver mail to my iRedMail server (e.g. when a gmail user emails a user on my iredmail system)?
[15:01:04] <jonascj> So unless otherwise configured, mail is pushed around the world in plaintext over port 25, whenever it moves from one mailserver ecosystem to another.
