[16:22:24] <toasterson> jperkin does pkgsrc ignore patches that cannot be applied? I tried copying your llvm patches from pkgsrc into oi-userland but they seem to patch files that do not exist in the source directory. it's the same version and tarball source as pkgsrc
[16:26:40] <jperkin> toasterson: no, that would cause the build to fail
[16:26:59] <jperkin> they'd only be ignored if they are missing from distinfo, so check that

[16:27:11] <toasterson> ah
[16:27:34] <jperkin> occasionally a developer might forget to cvs rm the patch or something but if it's not in distinfo then it'll just be skipped
[16:28:03] <jperkin> pkglint isn't showing such issues currently for lang/llvm though

[16:28:50] <jperkin> which patch specifically?
[16:29:01] <toasterson> not a pkgsrc problem

[16:29:54] <toasterson> but it did not download clang yet... i think I am missing something with that feature here. but thanks for the info

[20:50:47] <Kurlon> I have a 4 port aggr that I have to shift off bnx ports to Intel backed ones before upgrading OmniOS due to a bug in the new bnx driver. If I can add 8 links to the aggr, I can pre-add the intel ports, move my eth cables, then remove the bnx ports from the aggr and do this all with no hits. If not, remove first, add second and deal with the blip.

[21:47:43] <tsoome> anyone to walk me through gerrit push?:)
[21:47:56] <sjorge> I only know the older version in use at joyent
[21:48:52] <sjorge> but IIRC: 1) squahjs down to 1 commit, 2) add the code.illumos.org repo as alternate. 3) git push cr HEAD:refs/for/master
[21:48:59] <sjorge> cr being the gerrit repos for me
[21:49:50] <andyf> That looks about right - the only difference for the new one is that you need to add a unique Commit ID tagline
[21:50:10] <tsoome> yes, and I got: remote: ERROR: commit faeaba8: email address jason.king at joyent dot com is not registered in your account, and you lack 'forge author' permission.
[21:50:29] <jbk> ?
[21:50:33] <tsoome> error: failed to push some refs to 'tsoome at code dot illumos.org:illumos-gate.git'
[21:50:49] <andyf> Is your branch one commit ahead of master?
[21:50:54] <tsoome> I have no idea why I got such error...
[21:51:00] <tsoome> yes
[21:51:12] <andyf> I wonder if gerrit master is out of date...
[21:51:29] <andyf> That's the most likely reason for that error
[21:51:48] <andyf> At the moment LeftWing said he needs to manually keep it up-to-date
[21:51:55] <tsoome> 5313eef14a859d6429f56e1adf48bc8ce8bae248 is my commit, next is 3423c61d20be9888e6633dfaeca21398c1f155cd
[21:52:03] <tsoome> I see
[21:53:05] <andyf> yeah - last commit in gerrit master is 11870 cleanup sys/ddi_implfuncs.h
[21:53:15] <tsoome> that explains...
[21:53:35] <tsoome> rbt it is then:D
[21:53:44] <andyf> and jbk's SHA1 tests come straight after that
[22:00:32] <jlevon> I'm hoping he'll still turn on that permission anyway. we'll need it in general.
[22:04:33] <LeftWing> It's just a matter of getting the perms right, and yes I need to finish the cutover for pushes. I'm going to get the password reset stuff done soon, then I think we're ready
[22:04:56] <LeftWing> I got side tracked with Go maintenance, sorry
[22:04:56] <jlevon> are we going to switch then?
[22:05:24] <LeftWing> Well we're going to have people push to it for a while
[22:05:37] <jlevon> I see
[22:05:39] <LeftWing> Which means we can trial using it for integration, but on a per change basis
[22:05:53] <LeftWing> Get people comfortable, and hopefully yes switch
[22:06:05] <LeftWing> That's my intent anyway
[22:06:41] <jlevon> cool
[22:06:46] <LeftWing> Just want to make sure we address any substantive feedback along the way etc
[22:06:51] <wonko> So, no support for the Mellanox MT26448 10G ethernet card? So sad.
[22:07:05] <LeftWing> Obviously no solution will make everybody completely happy on all fronts
[22:07:13] <wonko> but I see the MT25408A0-FCC-QI is still on the HCL
[22:07:19] <jbk> is there anything (aside from UI changes) that's vastly different with this gerrit setup versus the joyent one?
[22:07:21] <wonko> am I able to use that for 10G or just IB?
[22:08:46] <LeftWing> jbk: We're going to be using the Change-Id footers
[22:09:43] <jbk> how do those work?
[22:09:43] <LeftWing> That's probably the biggest difference up front
[22:10:14] <LeftWing> Well a random change id goes in your commit message and that's how Gerrit tracks which change you're trying to push to when you update your patch
[22:10:26] <LeftWing> Rather than you having to push to the right number
[22:10:45] <LeftWing> You just push over and over to refs/for/master and it sorts it out
[22:10:47] <jbk> i mean, do we just manually create one while doing 'git commit' or.. is there something else?
[22:11:00] <LeftWing> Well there's a commit message hook that will do it for you
[22:11:22] <LeftWing> But if you match the syntax you can make your own too
[22:11:39] <LeftWing> It doesn't matter how it gets in the message, just that it does
[22:12:32] <LeftWing> The Go project has a tool that wraps a lot of the housekeeping and is kind of interesting
[22:12:53] <LeftWing> As a model, at least
[22:12:59] <AmyMalik> Go wholesale has dementia.
[22:13:05] <LeftWing> Well let's keep it civil
[22:13:43] <LeftWing> We're developing a positive relationship with that community, because it helps our OS to support as many runtimes as possible
[22:14:14] <jbk> heh.. speaking of runtimes.. i haven't revisited my porting of pony in a long time :)
[22:14:45] <jbk> i got stuck on a hellish macro that expanded into some pretty ugly C I could not dissect to figure out why it was failing
[22:14:55] <jbk> (and no one else seemed to understand :P)
[22:15:15] <LeftWing> Runtimes can be hard!
[22:15:22] <AmyMalik> some runtimes just have dementia
[22:15:26] <AmyMalik> like the illumos memory allocator
[22:15:45] <LeftWing> How's your system going? Have you made any progress troubleshooting?
[22:16:27] <AmyMalik> No apparent bus errors since the incident
[22:16:33] <LeftWing> That's interesting
[22:16:50] <AmyMalik> i spoke too soon
