[23:04:40] <ProPuke> bomb: It's an api similiar to flash, yeah
[23:04:54] <ProPuke> yeah, it's good for making crossplatform games
[23:06:30] <ProPuke> it's not that it neccasarily generates swfs (unless you specifically choose flash as the target)
[23:07:01] <ProPuke> if you're building for android or ios it will just generate c++ and then compile that (in that background)
[23:07:18] <ProPuke> (so it's not "like flash" in that regard. It's just an api)
[23:10:48] <bomb> ProPuke: can we just embed existing Flash assets from SWC or something?
[23:11:13] <bomb> reading the api docs, apparently it supports vector stuff thanks to lime's cairo
[23:12:11] <ProPuke> I don't anything about that I'm afraid. I've heard of some flash interoperability, but I've not really delved into that
[23:12:43] <ProPuke> I've just used it like a regular standalone api (which was maybe helped by the fact I've written a few things in flash in the past)
[23:13:15] <bomb> do you make games, btw? i'm making a simple UI editor in Flash, wondering if i could just use Haxe

[23:34:00] <ProPuke> bomb: I make "bits" of games (I tend to suffer from the common problem of jumping project too much)
[23:34:17] <ProPuke> I've made a few things in openfl though, yeah. Mostly for work, and mostly mobile apps or games
[23:34:47] <bomb> ProPuke: oh, mind showing me the non-game apps you made?
[23:37:13] <ProPuke> I can't share the work stuff I'm afraid
[23:37:43] <bomb> no worries
[23:38:08] <ProPuke> It was a couple of apps running on haxeui (v1), and one pure openfl, but again just an interactive app
[23:38:45] <bomb> hmm, do you recommend haxeui over just using pure openfl?
[23:39:12] <ProPuke> I've not used v2 since it's development, but it looks a lot nicer
[23:39:19] <ProPuke> 1 was a little janky in places
[23:39:57] <ProPuke> Although I've found https://www.fusetools.com better for stylised mobile apps
[23:40:23] <ProPuke> But that involves learning a different paradigm and some different languages
[23:41:03] <ProPuke> (it uses event-driven xml, an observable pattern tied to a js vm, and uno, a language which transpiles down to native for more advanced stuff)
[23:41:18] <ProPuke> that's a purely mobile solution, though
[23:44:07] <ProPuke> In the case of the pure openfl app - it was a pretty simple one, just 2 pages. But it had some nice parallax animation effects going on (it was for a taxi firm, so the main page was mostly a design overlayed over a scrolling map, with a few calls to action, and a second informational page that overlayed traffic report info
[23:44:31] <ProPuke> so the design could mostly be summerised in a psd and was all custom layout, so well-suiting to openfl
[23:44:55] <ProPuke> if you need standard control layouts and stuff, then you'll likely want something like haxeui (2) or maybe fuse
[23:45:43] <ProPuke> So depends how "standard" the layout needs to be, I suppose
