[01:49:37] <rmancy> Hi, I'm trying to give a certain user +2 perms. The default -1..+1 seems to be on refs/for/refs/*. I changed this to -2..+2, it still shouldn't work. Shouldn't this access policy be poiting to refs/for/* (i.e the ref I am pushing it to when I submit the code change) ?
[01:49:51] <rmancy> s/shouldn't/didn't/
[01:50:26] <rmancy> I did change the refs location but it made no difference(at least it seemed not to).

[13:08:35] <xnox> how long does it take for "too many ssh connections" to time out and get dropped by the gerrit server?
[13:09:00] <xnox> it seems to me though that i manage to generate too many ssh connections with pure repo usage

[14:07:32] <dusted> I'm sorry if this has been asked a million time, but I'm setting up a gerrit installation for a new company, and for some reason, I can't get openid auth to work with google, I'm being told the gerrit-url unregistered domain (which I guess is true) "OpenID auth request contains an unregistered domain: gerrit.xyz.tld" but the xyz.tld part is a valid name, has something changed?
[14:08:05] <dusted> Last time I set up gerrit there were no trouble, and instructions are straight forward, so I'm a bit unclear of what I am doing wrong here -_-

[14:37:57] <dougk> xnox: there's been some list discussion on it, and I don't think there's been any answer...
[14:38:27] <dougk> thought that the connections per user may be to blame, but that should be 64, I think?
[14:38:37] <dougk> (by default, that is)
[14:39:18] <dougk> dusted: OpenID is no longer supported by Google (i.e. they will not allow new domains), so you have to use another method.
[14:40:32] <xnox> dougk: hm, sigh. I'll spin up a dev gerrit instance and check what's going on.
[14:41:16] <dougk> I know sshd is about to get upgraded to fix another bug, so that may be interesting to try.
[14:45:19] <dusted> dougk, alright, that's sad news, but thank you! I guess it's time to learn ldap :P
[14:45:47] <dougk> dusted: actually, LDAP isn't hard to set up, and HTTP_LDAP is almost even easier.
[14:46:18] <dougk> especially if your business uses Active Directory... the hard part of actually setting up an LDAP server is done.
[14:46:56] <dusted> dougk, I first need to setup the ldap server first and then learn the terminology used there and how to administer it, before I can start looking at gerrit again :)
[14:51:34] <eburcat> Anyone has got an idea if there's progress with issue 350 - https://code.google.com/p/gerrit/issues/detail?id=350??

[20:16:59] <topagae> Anyone know if they're going to try and use another google authentication method? Using Yahoo sucks
[20:40:22] <dougk> people have talked about porting OAuth in, I think
[20:41:50] <dougk> there was talk about using the work Luca has done with GerritHub
[20:43:10] <dougk> have a look at https://www.packtpub.com/books/content/using-gerrit-github
[20:49:02] <volker-> dougk: do you know if gerrit-github can pull changes that where pushed to github (but not gerrit()
[20:51:15] <dougk> I've never used it, actually, so I'm not sure how all of it works.
[20:51:29] <dougk> I believe it can synchronize, but how the mechanics of that work? I don't know.
[20:52:05] <dougk> https://groups.google.com/d/msg/repo-discuss/M9DbHkvUKBE/1dlex2PMGkEJ might be a relevant topic
[20:54:14] <volker-> I use gerrit in front of gitlab. it works fine unless the owner of the gitlab repo does not push to gerrit but gitlab. gerrit does not pull here
[20:54:58] <dougk> yeah, from what that post says, it seems that'll always be a problem.
[20:55:31] <volker-> jupp, seems like. somewhat understandable. you pull from gitlab/github and have a merge conflict...
[20:55:57] <dougk> yeah :) now, that's not saying it can't be done, but it'd be a manual effort.
[20:56:27] <volker-> I think it is more important to have a better ACL / import system
[20:58:29] <dougk> to migrate to Gerrit from another system?
[21:00:17] *** plinio has quit IRC
[21:00:18] <topagae> Bah. I just want OpenID back, silly Google
[21:17:46] <volker-> dougk: yes, e.g. from github
[21:21:51] <dougk> yeah, I could see that as being useful for either moving a large number of repositories, or a repo with really complex rules.
[21:22:10] <dougk> the problem with things like that is, they're really one-time use for most people...
[21:27:22] *** micah has left #gerrit
[21:50:26] <volker-> yes. depends on the company and their git usage.
[21:50:48] <volker-> we grant overall access to the teams, that admin permissions in gerrit doesn't make this integration easy
[21:51:18] <volker-> so gerrit logs errors etc. to a logfile. Is there a way to log to syslog? I want to forward the data to graylog
[22:22:01] <dougk> hmm, I use logstash and elasticsearch to gather the log data myself.
[22:22:29] <dougk> it's possible to reconfigure log4j to output to syslog, I think, but getting a "compatible" log4j config is something of a fun exercise.
[22:25:58] <dougk> volker-: https://gist.github.com/vangdfang/686b10d514ce7a4bd6a5
[22:26:12] <dougk> that seems to be as close to a "standard" configuration as I can get.
[22:43:44] <volker-> interesting. to pick up ~/.ssh/id_rsa you have to restart gerrit

[22:55:16] <p4plus2> Would anybody be aware of what could possibly cause this:
[22:55:16] <p4plus2> BUILD FAILED: No directory lib/httpcomponents when resolving target //lib/httpcomponents:httpcore in build file //gerrit-httpd/BUCK
[22:56:27] <p4plus2> I'd like to be able to build gerrit so I can add the oauth patch, but buck seems extremely temperamental as a whole
[22:59:23] <p4plus2> attempting to build from master instead of 2.9.1 just generates a runtime exception ( java.lang.RuntimeException: Not an ordinary file: Documentation/:doc.css)
[22:59:36] <dougk> volker-: used to be you had to restart to pick up .ssh/known_hosts, too.
[23:00:09] <volker-> thats not intuitive to me. But well, as soon as you know it ...
[23:02:54] <dougk> reason was, it'd get cached at startup and never read again... now, at least when there's a host not listed, it tries to re-read the file.
[23:03:21] <p4plus2> alright better question does anybody have a build which already includes: https://gerrit-review.googlesource.com/#/c/57570/
