I am running Gerrit 2.9, and I am having real issues getting LDAP groups. LDAP user authentication works well, and user information such as email and full name is retrieved fine. However I can't for the life of me get the LDAP groups in. I also look at the logs of the directory server (OpenLDAP), and I see the queries, which are valid, and group information returned back. What is missing?[19:19:38] <russoisraeli> I've re-flushed the cache several times to make sure my changes are working[19:20:38] *** St_Marx has joined #gerrit[19:25:40] <tty1> micah: hey i can help ya, still around?[19:26:37] <tty1> micah: in short, it does have submodule support, but the submodule you want to review needs to be in gerrit as well[19:31:52] <micah> tty1: oh ok.. i guess I dont quite get then what the submodule support gets you there[19:32:26] <tty1> micah: well if you have the parent repo and the submodule in gerrit and push an update to the submodule it will automatically commit an update to the parent repo for you[19:33:08] *** srenatus has quit IRC[19:33:12] <tty1> micah: so if you have a parent repo that has a bunch of submodules but no code of its own, you dont need to worry about commit to the parent repo at all, just ocmmit to the children and the parent wills tay up to date for you[19:33:40] <tty1> micah: its a feature ive really enjoyed personally as it makes GIT easier to work with in that sense for me[19:33:50] <micah> tty1: oh ok, that falls out of my use case I guess[19:34:02] <tty1> micah: sounds like it :([19:34:42] <tty1> micah: not even sure how your use case could work[19:35:04] <tty1> micah: gerrit isnt your typical code review tool[19:35:37] <micah> tty1: why do you say that?[19:35:57] <tty1> micah: it quarintines your commit until it passes code review, if it passes it then merges it into the repo for you, if it fails it throws away the commit and it never makes it into the repo[19:36:09] <tty1> micah: so if the repo itself isnt in git i dont see how it could perform its function[19:36:35] <tty1> micah: once it passes the code review since the actual repository isnt in git (just the parent repository) it has no where to commit it to[19:58:12] *** gigetoo has joined #gerrit[20:10:06] *** St_Marx has quit IRC[20:35:25] <jkt> russoisraeli: how does it look like when it doesn't work?[20:42:04] *** wenlock has joined #gerrit[20:43:42] *** russoisraeli has quit IRC[21:21:34] *** qchris has joined #gerrit[21:27:42] *** plinio has quit IRC[21:28:45] *** marlinc has joined #gerrit[21:29:47] *** marlinc has quit IRC[21:38:37] *** marlinc has joined #gerrit[21:39:56] *** marlinc has quit IRC[21:40:39] *** russoisraeli has joined #gerrit[21:44:52] <russoisraeli> jkt - When I do "List all groups", only the default Gerrit groups show up[21:44:54] *** wenlock has quit IRC[21:44:58] <russoisraeli> When I see user's group membership only "Adminitrators" shows up[21:48:53] *** marlinc has joined #gerrit[22:06:07] *** micah has quit IRC[22:21:34] *** marlinc has quit IRC[22:22:07] *** micah has joined #gerrit[22:30:19] *** marlinc has joined #gerrit[22:53:25] *** russoisraeli has quit IRC[22:53:36] *** St_Marx has joined #gerrit[23:09:26] *** jrnieder has quit IRC[23:16:45] *** marlinc has quit IRC[23:18:55] *** marlinc has joined #gerrit[23:44:14] *** firemanxbr has joined #gerrit[23:59:16] *** marlinc has quit IRC
