[16:08:44] <SysTom> Force failed over a HA pair of Netscalers, and the license for the new primary is stating 5 maximum Netscaler users allowed

[16:28:39] <RSRevord> hostname on th eappliance might not match between both nodes
[16:28:44] <RSRevord> login and check hostname on each
[16:28:57] <SysTom> Both nodes have different hostnames
[16:29:00] <RSRevord> for the vpn license its by hostname
[16:29:16] <RSRevord> so reissue the hostnamed based license, OR match hostnames between ha nodes,
[16:29:23] <RSRevord> i prefer to match hostname since it doesn't matter
[16:29:34] <RSRevord> but i know mny like having it different so can tell node1 vs node 2
[16:29:38] <SysTom> Ah okay, this is the first time we've done a HA pair upgrade
[16:29:47] <SysTom> Wasn't aware of that!
[16:30:01] <SysTom> Okay, so either same hostname, apply same license..... or re-apply license to 2nd node on failover?
[16:30:52] <RSRevord> correct
[16:30:55] <SysTom> Thanks :)
[16:31:15] <RSRevord> well just reapply to it so youhave a license for your vpn users for both names load up both in advance so on failover its 100% good
[16:31:17] <RSRevord> make sense?
[16:31:25] <SysTom> Not really
[16:31:41] <SysTom> In the licensing portal now, working it out
[16:32:29] <SysTom> May failover back to the other node, and figure this out outside of the maint window!
[16:39:06] <RSRevord> ok
[16:39:11] <RSRevord> so you have 2 licenses on the netscaler
[16:39:20] <RSRevord> platform that enables standard/ent/plat mode
[16:39:25] <RSRevord> then you have your VPN license
[16:39:30] <RSRevord> sec let me find the proper name
[16:39:38] <RSRevord> universal access license
[16:39:44] <SysTom> Yes, okay- this is making more sense
[16:39:47] <SysTom> Licensing bleh!
[16:39:53] <RSRevord> platform is by MAC
[16:39:59] <RSRevord> you have issued 1 per NS appliance by its mac
[16:40:02] <RSRevord> easy
[16:40:08] <SysTom> and VPN/CAG is by hostname
[16:40:14] <RSRevord> then you have the universal license that is listenced by hostname
[16:40:15] <RSRevord> YUP
[16:40:26] <RSRevord> so either match hostname and have 1, or 2 issued one for each hostname
[16:40:43] <RSRevord> but since citrix deosn't give you 2, you have to reissue it once on new name and again on node2 name
[16:40:45] <RSRevord> or match
[16:40:46] <RSRevord> now
[16:41:00] <SysTom> Cool- that makes perfect sense
[16:41:01] <RSRevord> to make matters more confusing, 11.1.x something they changed it as well
[16:41:17] <RSRevord> now standard gets like 5 universal included, enterprise 500, and plat unlimited
[16:41:38] <RSRevord> so say you have 500 purchased universal and on enterprise you'd should see 1000
[16:41:42] <RSRevord> once you upgrade to that
[16:42:06] <RSRevord> i don't recall the firmware version that change hits but its good to be aware, you can google find the kb
[16:42:11] <RSRevord> ok gotta run hope your set now.
[16:42:14] <SysTom> I'll make a note
[16:42:19] <SysTom> Yes, you've helped me understand, appreciate it!

[20:04:49] <AnotherCTXadm> why do I always get weird problems. During DR failover test, powered down my primary XD 7.9 DDC. Failovered DB to DR DC using SQL 2012 AG. DR DDC shoed connection to db lost, followed by connection restored. All is great. Except for Applications. All my admin folders are gone in Studio. All apps are bunched up under "Applications" folder. Actual folder structure is somehow ended up in Application Name (for administrators). So I obviously
[20:04:49] <AnotherCTXadm> can not modify applications now because it does not allow special characters but already has folder1\folder2\folder3 in the name already
[20:06:23] <AnotherCTXadm> not going to touch it now until we fail back. But why in the world would it modify admin folder location for 700+ applications simply because we failed over db and brought down primary DDC?!?
