[17:55:50] <tabularasa> right?
[17:56:04] <David62277> well i figured out something after banging my head against the wall for a bit
[17:56:32] <tabularasa> ?
[17:56:47] <David62277> i redirect all user chrome data to their home drive via symbolic links - which until recently there has been zero issues
[17:57:34] <David62277> well, we have this new web application which is taking the place of one of our main applications. it has a bunch of flash content (which makes it run slow AF... but i digress on that)
[17:57:50] <tabularasa> heh
[17:58:12] <tabularasa> just curious, why symlinks and not just the gpo?
[17:58:15] <David62277> pepperflash will fail to run if it is not local (and somehow it knows if it is being accessed via a symbolic link)
[17:58:47] <David62277> actually just learned about the gpo today, but would be the same issue
[17:58:52] <David62277> tried it
[17:59:54] <David62277> so if pepperflash updates %localappdata%\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash -- redirected by any means... flash will fail
[18:00:25] <tabularasa> is this new as of version "X"?
[18:00:46] <David62277> well happened on 53 and on 56 - 2 versions ive tried

[18:00:52] <David62277> business one
[18:01:21] <tabularasa> so, as of i think 52, i thought they got rid of pepperflash, and now its built into the .exe
[18:01:32] <David62277> nope... is a dll
[18:02:08] <David62277> so default install of 53 has a pepperflash folder in c:\ install path
[18:02:21] <David62277> 56 did not
[18:02:31] <tabularasa> so, how i "fixed" that, was to write a GPO to deny users access to H:\chrome\pepperflash
[18:02:40] <tabularasa> when you do that, it defaults to the pepperflash thats in the installer directory on C:
[18:02:51] <David62277> so i took the one that was in my %localappdata%, and copied that to the c path
[18:03:18] <David62277> then script deleted all the pepperflash directories in the home directory share
[18:03:49] <David62277> yeah denying access to that folder was another fix i saw... but thats a pita
[18:04:21] <tabularasa> As you all know, the easiest way to obtain PepperFlash, since it was first released nearly 8 yrs ago, has always been to install Chrome, as it comes with Pepper pre-installed. The new release marks a change of direction for the Linux version of Chrome, through reading ahead on the 'beta' and 'dev' channel blogs. From version 54 on, Chrome will no longer ship with Pepper pre-installed. Instead, you have
[18:04:27] <tabularasa> to perform a download/update from within the browser itself.
[18:04:29] <tabularasa> That's what i was thinking, sorry
[18:04:47] <tabularasa> wasn't terrible in GPP, tbh
[18:04:59] <tabularasa> but yeah, it totally sucks period... i hate chrome/pepperflash
[18:05:16] <David62277> but if you create a pepperflash directory in the numbered version directory, and copy in the .dll and other files... it works from there
[18:05:55] <tabularasa> yeah... so annoying
[18:06:44] <tabularasa> Opera for EVERYONE
[18:06:57] <Biny> la la la!
[18:09:01] <David62277> oh... i have the best solution. you give domain users write permissions to C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\. put the latest version of pepperflash on a network share somewhere. then with WEM or a logon script you could have it copy in the latest files at user logon. thats for a straight vdi though... could do the same thing with a startup script if you have hosted shared desktops
[18:09:45] <David62277> then when a new version of pepperflash comes out... update the network share, and bob's your uncle
[18:10:28] <RSRevord> yup

[19:46:29] <nyner> can you find something about "desktop cleanup"?
[19:49:04] <Stalemate> existing desktop shortcuts -> disabled
[19:49:44] <Stalemate> should that be enabled?
[19:50:30] <David62277> i have shortcuts going to my desktop... let me see what my log says
[19:52:45] <Stalemate> appreciate it, I have 150 users login on monday, not a good first impression if they have to relogon, :)
[19:53:56] <Stalemate> I have redirected the startmenu to have full control over what's shown, if I browse to that folder, the shortcuts works just fine from there
[19:54:01] <Stalemate> so it's not a acl thing
[19:55:16] <David62277> this the only thing in my log that shows like yours, but it isnt the same Event -> MainController.DeleteDesktopShortcuts() : Existing Desktop Shortcuts Removal -> Disabled
[19:55:36] <David62277> are you creating applications in WEM to give out shortcuts?
[19:55:52] <Stalemate> yes, that's the only place they come from
[19:55:57] <David62277> might be easier if we do a gotomeeting or something
[19:56:04] <David62277> then i can compare it against what i have in my environment
[19:57:08] <Stalemate> if I restart explorer.exe, it works as well
[19:57:29] <Stalemate> so I'm tempted to say it's a win10-issue, but..
[19:57:55] <David62277> it very well might be, but all WEM should be doing is dropping shortcuts in the normal folders
[19:58:11] <David62277> https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/369839141 if you want to show me what you have
[20:01:30] <David62277> on my shortcut assignments i have it set to create the shortcuts using the filter File or Folder does not exist
[20:02:33] <David62277> Stalemate join the gotomeeting and let's compare yours to mine

[20:57:21] <David62277> nyner - it looks like the default start menu isnt populating correctly
[20:58:01] <David62277> the start menu database is there (windows 10), but you can't click on most of the shortcuts.
[20:58:57] <David62277> i told him he should take all citrix stuff off of it, take it outside of the ou where any upm would apply, and see if logging on via the console allows the start menu to work
[20:59:52] <David62277> if it works then, then it is something with WEM or UPM, and should be able to setup one at a time to figure out where the issue is

[22:50:49] <tabularasa> Im trying to figure out if my MCS clones are affected.... theoretically...

[23:17:03] <AnotherCTXadm> is uncon online?
[23:18:58] <tabularasa> he was
[23:20:05] <uncon> do what?
[23:20:32] <uncon> AnotherCTXadm: shoot!
[23:20:33] <AnotherCTXadm> I have a question about rewriting external NS url from https://a.company.com/* to https://b.company.com
[23:21:03] <AnotherCTXadm> I am trying to use similar pol and action as I used for internal vserver and it does not work
[23:21:04] <uncon> is rewriting the right term?
[23:21:15] <uncon> wouldn't you rather redirect?
[23:21:31] <AnotherCTXadm> well, its same NS
[23:21:37] <uncon> ok
[23:21:48] <AnotherCTXadm> basically we are doing DR test
[23:21:55] <AnotherCTXadm> DNS will be updated
[23:22:17] <AnotherCTXadm> and our prod url a will be resolving to url b device
[23:22:47] <AnotherCTXadm> with SF, if base url not identical to url users comming on, it refuses to log in
[23:23:18] <AnotherCTXadm> so I am trying to catch that prod url a and either redirect or rewrite to url b
[23:23:19] <uncon> oof, for storefront....
[23:23:30] <AnotherCTXadm> if using http its not a problem
[23:23:47] <AnotherCTXadm> works out of box as anything comming on port 80 will redirect to correct url b
[23:24:03] <AnotherCTXadm> however, if users have bookmarks to login page, thats when it brakes
[23:24:23] <uncon> but, you can't terminate a.company.com on a vserver with a cert for b.company.com
[23:25:04] <uncon> for ssl, you would need another VIP with the other cert bound to it... then do your redir from there
[23:25:12] <AnotherCTXadm> I just need it to detect that user coming in on https://a.company.com/vpn/index.html and change url to https://b.company.com
[23:25:33] <AnotherCTXadm> my certs are *.company.com
[23:25:47] <AnotherCTXadm> wildcard certs
[23:26:12] <uncon> then check that Host header for (STARTS WITH) a.company.com
[23:26:26] <uncon> action, redirect to b.company.com
[23:26:37] <AnotherCTXadm> here is what I got... it does not seem to be working
[23:26:43] <uncon> (responder pol)
[23:27:29] <AnotherCTXadm> basically I used this https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX119755

[23:33:48] <RSRevord> sorry tab i don't have anything live yet
[23:34:36] <tabularasa> i recreated it in PROD, and my lab
[23:34:47] <tabularasa> i'm curious if other MCS sees it too, and curious if PVS has the same issue
[23:34:56] <tabularasa> i'm also cloning the machine to static to see if the issue goes away
