[00:00:11] <CitrixNoob> since it doesnt see a physical drive mapped to F it will always try to put it there
[00:00:43] <paradizelost> yes, but generally when you manually set a drive letter, esp. on a usb storage device, it should maintain that manual drive letter
[00:00:55] <paradizelost> i've repeatedly changed this, and it won't stick

[15:32:12] <batfastad> We have a NetScaler VPX10 that we use for remote client VPN access to our datacentre. We'd like to buy another one for another site
[15:32:51] <batfastad> I'm guessing it's the NetScaler Gateway product that we need, rather than the full NetScaler?
[15:34:08] <batfastad> We don't need VDI or application load balancing, just the Access Gateway VPN features.
[15:34:10] *** Tom_Wurm has quit IRC
[15:35:03] <batfastad> How on earth does the licensing work, Platform, Universal?
[15:36:14] *** Scorpion3de has joined #Citrix
[15:37:12] <batfastad> Apparently we can get up to 1500 concurrent VPN users with a VPX 10. But are there any bandwidth limitations, 1500 users sharing only 10Mbps licensed throughput would not work very well :)
[15:37:50] <batfastad> The site connection is 70Mbit and not really expecting more than say 30 simultaneous users
[15:45:16] <batfastad> Ah turns out I was looking at this from the main menu http://www.citrix.com/products/netscaler-application-delivery-controller/overview.html
[15:47:04] <WyW> batfastad: http://www.citrix.com/content/dam/citrix/en_us/documents/products-solutions/netscaler-data-sheet.pdf?accessmode=direct
[15:47:20] <batfastad> Sounds like I want this http://www.citrix.com/products/netscaler-gateway/overview.html NetScaler Gateway
[15:47:23] <WyW> that explains the differences between platform licenses
[15:47:35] <WyW> standard / enterprise / platinum
[15:48:06] <WyW> if you're using the SSLVPN feature, you'll need the universal licenses for each users
[15:48:28] <WyW> and different size vpx in regards of throughput
[15:50:25] <batfastad> WyW: That's all the full Netscaler though right? Since we don't use the firewall, load balancing etc, just the VPN, a Netscaler Gateway is what we're looking for right?
[15:50:59] <WyW> I think it's the same appliance
[15:51:10] <WyW> you just unlock different stuff with license
[15:51:57] <batfastad> WyW: So a standard edition has the Netscaler Gateway SSL VPN
[15:52:09] <WyW> http://www.citrix.com/products/netscaler-application-delivery-controller/platforms.html there are no separate appliance for the gw only
[15:52:22] <WyW> yeah... standard + universal licenses
[15:52:50] <WyW> and the VPX model according to the throughput need (VPX 10/200/1000/3000)
[15:52:57] <batfastad> Different product landing page with different data sheets... http://www.citrix.com/products/netscaler-gateway/overview.html
[15:53:32] <WyW> netscaler gateway is just one of the many features
[15:53:55] <WyW> I think you get the load balancing stuff no matter what you buy
[15:54:38] <batfastad> Aha thank you! "NetScaler Gateway is a part of all editions of
[15:54:38] <batfastad> NetScaler ADC appliance, is fully integrated
[15:54:43] <WyW> http://store.citrix.com/store/citrixus/en_US/pd/ThemeID.9505600/productID.201434800 that's pretty handy

[15:56:06] <batfastad> There's also this... http://store.citrix.com/store/citrix/pd/productID.281256100/pgm.94596800/ThemeID.37713000
[16:00:27] <batfastad> Right so I still don't understand why there are separate items in the store for Netscaler VPX and Gateway VPX
[16:03:03] <batfastad> And the universal license, any idea where the pricing is for that? I use the split tunnel feature which is only covered in the universal license.
[16:05:08] <WyW> I think you need to contact a partner for the prices in your region
[16:05:22] <batfastad> So the VPX-10 covers us for 300 users. But I would need to buy a universal license for each of those 300 users?
[16:05:32] <WyW> can't see why they wouldn't be more than eager to tell you the prices
[16:05:42] <WyW> universal license is ccu
[16:05:48] <WyW> afaik
[16:06:28] <batfastad> WyW: what's CCU?
[16:06:44] <WyW> concurrent users
[16:09:02] <batfastad> If I open up a conversation with a partner I'll end up with them all over me for months. "Tailored pricing" etc, yeah tailored to how much they think we can afford
[16:11:29] <WyW> haha
[16:11:47] <WyW> I'm a partner but would never do that
[16:14:24] <batfastad> What the heck is this thing then, http://store.citrix.com/store/citrix/DisplayProductDetailsPage/ProductID.281256100/Currency.USD
[16:14:34] <batfastad> Can't we just buy that?
[16:15:08] <WyW> I'd claim that's still the NetScaler VPX standard
[16:15:12] <WyW> let me check
[16:16:13] <WyW> uhm, ok... so it seems that you need the NetScaler VPX platform (VPX something std/en/plt)
[16:16:23] <WyW> and on top of that you buy the gateway
[16:16:42] <WyW> and the gateway then includes universal licenses
[16:17:05] <WyW> I could be wrong with this one
[16:17:15] <WyW> not a salesman
[16:17:18] <WyW> but that's my guess
[16:18:22] <batfastad> Crikey!
[16:18:54] <WyW> if I recall correctly, my customers first buy that platform license
[16:19:06] <WyW> and then the "gateway licence"
[16:20:14] *** Scorpion3de has quit IRC
[16:20:15] <batfastad> And on a gibbous moon in the tropic of capricorn they are allowed x concurrent users lol
[16:20:59] <WyW> no
[16:21:17] <WyW> you can buy different size packages of those universal licenses
[16:21:25] <WyW> but somehow this is all connected to the ica proxy too
[16:21:49] <WyW> which doesn't require universal licenses if you're not running it in smart access mode or use sslvpn
[16:22:15] <WyW> I've done many NetScaler projects
[16:22:27] <WyW> and still I'm confused with this stuff
[16:22:47] <WyW> I'll ask my NetScaler SE about that gw-stuff
[16:22:53] <WyW> just out of curiosity
[16:23:18] <WyW> it's already evening here so won't get any answers today...
[16:25:19] <batfastad> Yeah I don't know the cheat codes to progress to the next level of "Buying A Netscaler"
[16:26:50] <batfastad> Think I need to contact a partner to advice, add value, tailor pricing, etc. Maybe they'll chuck in the waching machine license for free, need a new one
[16:28:48] <batfastad> Thanks for the info though. Was hoping this would be something I could pay for, wrap up and just get out of my queue. Getting sales involved is going to drag this on for at least a few more days
