[22:48:15] <goekesmi> Smithx10, I encountered this when I used JPC. I resorted to building an image, and a CI/CD pipeline to add users to my image's list of authorized users.
[22:48:39] <Smithx10> goekesmi: yea, I kinda know how to workaround the issue.
[22:48:50] <Smithx10> Just would be nice for a user to mark public.
[22:49:07] <Smithx10> Definitely reasons why you wouldnt want it in JPC
[22:50:02] <goekesmi> I am reminded of all the AWS public image nuttery with pre-loaded crypto miners on otherwise usefully configured images.
[22:50:34] <Smithx10> lol, its not a big deal
[22:50:45] <jbk> yeah, the problem is that zfs recv isn't really hardened.. so a trojan zfs send stream could do all sorts of 'fun' things to the destination zpool

[22:56:57] <Smithx10> seems ikea sells bulbs now that are cheap and can change levels
[22:58:13] <goekesmi> In that case, I'll present my one line advice. I use Philips Hue which is expensive and reliable. Many smart powerstrips can have the third party firmware of Tasmota put on them to make them much better. Good luck.
[23:00:29] <Smithx10> goekesmi: the Phillips hue stuff works better? I saw that you can use the Cheaper Ikea bulbs with them
[23:00:31] <Smithx10> you do that?
[23:03:21] <goekesmi> <sigh /> The Philips Hue stuff is an implementation of the zigbee lightlink protocol, which is a multi-vendor standard. Light that comply with zigbee light link *should* all interoperate, and generally partially do. Single vendor solutions work better, and if I keep going, I'm going to start venting about firmware and adversarial interop.
