[02:55:53] <gastaldi> bleathem: Is there a demo app for these new RF components ?
[02:56:26] <gastaldi> I am curious about the Editor and the picklist ones
[02:56:27] <bleathem> there is the dev-examples project:
[02:56:27] <bleathem> http://github.com/richfaces/dev-examples
[02:56:38] <bleathem> it shows the components in isolation.
[02:56:48] <bleathem> and we'll get them in the showcse for the M2 release
[02:56:57] <gastaldi> Cool
[02:57:21] <bleathem> Feedback for the pickList appreciated!
[02:57:43] <bleathem> And I'm know Lukas is also looking for feedback on the editor component
[02:58:16] <bleathem> I love the column support Richfaces has for it's SealectMany components
[02:58:19] <bleathem> that's way cool
[02:58:19] <gastaldi> are these on the dev-examples you passed ?
[02:58:26] <bleathem> yes
[02:58:36] <gastaldi> cool
[02:58:56] <gastaldi> But I am too lazy to make it run into my machine :P

[03:16:16] <gastaldi> how do u guys usually scope a JPA entity to be used on a JSF page ? Do you place @Model on it ?
[03:17:01] *** bleathem has quit IRC
[03:18:38] <kenfinnigan> gastaldi: that's probably a bad idea, then CDI will control it instead of JPA

[03:23:24] <gastaldi> I know it may sound stupid, but this came to my mind now
[03:24:17] <gastaldi> I must have a ManagedBean and then place this entity as an attribute ?
[03:26:58] <kenfinnigan> hmmm
[03:30:34] <kenfinnigan> have you taken a look at the booking example to see what it does?

[18:51:19] <jamezp> flashboss: Still around?
[19:05:09] <flashboss> hi jamezp
[19:05:36] <flashboss> should those properties file be read in the view too?
[19:05:54] <jamezp> What kind of "view"?
[19:06:05] <flashboss> xhtml, jsp?.same
[19:06:40] <flashboss> I noted the format name.name.properties is not readable inside a ResourceBundle
[19:06:53] <jamezp> Ah, okay. I'm not actually sure. The idea is to use the interface and not directly read the resource file.
[19:07:12] <flashboss> then name.i18n.properties is not readable inside a view
[19:08:30] <flashboss> you cannot use the interface in the view?. I suppose it can be read only through the @Inject annotation
[19:08:46] <jamezp> Right, but the properties file isn't intended to be used there either.
[19:08:59] <jamezp> Here is an example of how I'm using it in AS7 https://github.com/jamezp/jboss-as/blob/AS7-809/jpa/src/main/java/org/jboss/as/jpa/JpaMessages.java
[19:09:00] <jbossbot> jira [AS7-809] Convert modules to use JBoss Logging and message bundles [Open (Unresolved) Task, Major, James Perkins] https://issues.jboss.org/browse/AS7-809
[19:09:18] <jamezp> That's a message bundle interface.
[19:09:51] <jamezp> It has a static field MESSAGES that I use to for access to the messages.
[19:10:55] <jamezp> Here is an example of how I use it https://github.com/jamezp/jboss-as/blob/AS7-809/jpa/src/main/java/org/jboss/as/jpa/processor/JPAAnnotationParseProcessor.java#L186
[19:10:56] <jbossbot> jira [AS7-809] Convert modules to use JBoss Logging and message bundles [Open (Unresolved) Task, Major, James Perkins] https://issues.jboss.org/browse/AS7-809
[19:11:46] <flashboss> so in the view I can call it so: jpaMessages.cannotChangeInputStream ?
[19:12:10] <jamezp> Correct.
[19:12:21] <flashboss> cool?I try
[19:12:40] <jamezp> That's one reason in my examples I need to get some better use cases :-)
[19:13:08] <jamezp> Showing the intended use case always makes it easier to understand. At least for me.
[19:14:37] <ssachtleben> hey I have a questions
[19:14:49] <ssachtleben> whats the common way to find memory leaks?
[19:15:38] <ssachtleben> I have a cronjob which doing some gallery and icon images with image magic and the jboss blow and without giving back the resources
[19:19:23] <jamezp> You might be able to see what's going on via JConsole or VisualVM.
[19:20:47] <ssachtleben> uh never used before
[19:21:09] <ssachtleben> ok I will double check for open filestreams and if it doesnt work I will check these tools out thanks
[19:24:24] <jamezp> I can't say I'm the best at using them either, but they can be useful.
[19:24:45] <jamezp> I tend to prefer VisualVM as it has a few more options and a JConsole plugin.
[19:25:33] <jamezp> If you're running the Oracle JVM, just type iether jvisualvm or jconsole on the command line and it should work.
[19:26:43] <ssachtleben> uhm oracle jvm?
[19:26:57] <ssachtleben> i'm using java jdk 1.6.0_22 :P
[19:27:34] <jamezp> :-) Yeah, if you downloaded from Sun/Oracle it's there by default.
[19:27:39] <ssachtleben> and the jboss6 should also run with xmx2048m or? hes currently using just 1024m. maybe I add another 1024gb to my cloud server :)
[19:28:00] <jamezp> If you're using OpenJDK I think JConsole is there by default, but you have to install VisualVM as a separate download.
[19:28:40] <Diablo-D3> >1024gb
[19:28:54] <Diablo-D3> visualvm comes with sun jdk but not openjdk
[19:28:59] <Diablo-D3> jconsole comes with both
[19:30:17] <jamezp> Correct Diablo-D3, but you can download VisualVM separately and jconsole doesn't work with the nimbus L&F which I prefer.
[19:30:37] * Diablo-D3 shrugs
[19:30:38] <ssachtleben> 1024m sorry lol :D
[19:30:42] <Diablo-D3> if its not gtk, its ugly anyhow
[19:31:41] <jamezp> Yeah, I can't stand Metal or Motif. They're so 1980's :-)
[19:31:52] <jamezp> or 1990's that is.
[19:34:58] <ssachtleben> currently I'm not sure which jdk is installed on my linux server I have just installed over the package manager :P
[19:35:34] <ssachtleben> Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_22-b04)
[19:35:34] <ssachtleben> Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 17.1-b03, mixed mode)
[19:35:53] <jamezp> That's the Oracle/Sun version.
[19:35:59] <ssachtleben> k
[19:36:03] <jamezp> HotSpot is the key :-)
[19:36:24] <ssachtleben> good to know :)
