[14:22:23] <tur42keys> how can we help?

[14:22:41] <orukinawa> im in recovery mode right now
[14:22:52] <orukinawa> trying to backup
[14:23:07] <orukinawa> but I get "Error while dumping boot image!"
[14:23:24] <orukinawa> "E:Can't mount CACHE: recovery/log"
[14:23:36] <orukinawa> "E:Can't find MISC:"
[14:23:47] <tur42keys> ok
[14:25:00] <orukinawa> am I doing something wrong?
[14:25:37] <tur42keys> nope nothing you've done
[14:25:47] <tur42keys> sometimes this happens with unrevoked
[14:25:52] <tur42keys> there's a fix though :)
[14:26:02] <tur42keys> desire?
[14:26:06] <orukinawa> yes
[14:26:15] <tur42keys> GSM or CDMA?
[14:26:42] <orukinawa> er...im not sure lol
[14:26:48] <orukinawa> sry im noob in phone stuff
[14:26:54] <tur42keys> no problem
[14:26:55] <orukinawa> how can I know which one is mine?
[14:27:00] <tur42keys> does it have a SIM card?
[14:27:09] <orukinawa> yes
[14:27:15] <tur42keys> ok it's GSM then
[14:27:19] <orukinawa> ok
[14:27:56] <tur42keys> what you need to do is reflash your recovery with another one, using unrevoked
[14:28:01] <tur42keys> download this: http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0.img
[14:28:23] <orukinawa> done
[14:28:41] <tur42keys> now open unrevoked again with your phone disconnected
[14:29:17] <orukinawa> done
[14:29:49] <tur42keys> click Menu > Custom Recovery and select the thing you just downloaded
[14:29:54] <orukinawa> done
[14:29:58] <tur42keys> then connect your phone
[14:30:37] <orukinawa> ok its reflashing
[14:30:57] <orukinawa> so what difference will it make if I use this image instead?
[14:31:45] <tur42keys> it will be Amon RA recovery instead of ClockWorkMod
[14:31:52] <tur42keys> there's not much difference
[14:32:17] <orukinawa> ok
[14:32:56] <orukinawa> ok its done
[14:34:09] <orukinawa> yup its backuping now

[18:35:46] <tur42keys> hi nesral :)
[18:35:49] <tur42keys> how can we help?
[18:35:55] <nesral> oh fantastic
[18:36:11] <nesral> I was actually in here a while ago, got help, and everything was fine, and now it's less so
[18:36:17] <nesral> here's my situation
[18:36:52] <nesral> I had a phone that wasn't booting, not even into recovery. I had a goldcard, so I used an RUU and put it back to factory settings.
[18:37:01] <tur42keys> ok
[18:37:29] <nesral> I rerooted, s-offed, and installed Oxygen, and was messing around with the bootloader (I installed the alpharev custom one for Oxygen)
[18:38:29] <nesral> and then it started doing the same thing - not booting, getting stuck on the HTC splash screen. I thought, hey, I'll use the RUU again. So I popped in my goldcard, went through the process, but it gave me an error... 157, I think. Now I have a weird HTC logo with four ! marks in the corners.
[18:38:47] <tur42keys> ok
[18:38:52] <tur42keys> that means the RUU failed
[18:38:55] <nesral> every time I try and use the RUU, I get this error, and it tells me to pop the battery out and try again.
[18:39:12] <nesral> yeah. my phone IS recognized when I connect it and do a "fastboot devices"
[18:39:25] <nesral> but that's as far as I can go
[18:39:36] <tur42keys> ok
[18:39:46] <nesral> I tried reflashing the recovery (clockworkmod) which said it went through, but it hasn't helped the phone at all
[18:39:50] <nesral> via fastboot
[18:40:00] <tur42keys> so you have fastboot all setup?
[18:40:33] <nesral> as far as I know
[18:40:35] <nesral> yeah, adb and everything
[18:40:36] <tur42keys> ok
[18:40:39] <nesral> I kind of stumbled upon the fastboot thing
[18:40:50] <tur42keys> you should be able to use fastboot to update
[18:41:23] <nesral> what I really want to do is install a custom radio, kernal, bootloader, recovery, and rom, with S-Off. I have all the tools ready to go, I just need my phone to work.
[18:41:32] <tur42keys> yeah
[18:41:33] <nesral> how can I use fastboot to update?
[18:42:24] <tur42keys> download this http://shipped-roms.com/download.php?category=android&model=Bravo&file=PB99IMG_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip
[18:43:04] <tur42keys> then rename it to update.zip, move it to the directory fastboot is in then do fastboot update update.zip
[18:43:16] <nesral> ok... do you mind if I ask questions so I know how to do these things on my own later?
[18:43:38] <tur42keys> yeah sure :)
[18:43:50] <nesral> how did you know that was the one to download?
[18:44:31] <tur42keys> because it has PB99IMG at the start I know it's the type that you can flash in hboot or via fastboot
[18:44:44] <tur42keys> then I just got the latest version number
[18:45:23] <nesral> what does the PB99IMG mean?
[18:46:29] <tur42keys> it is the file name that hboot recognizes so it knows it's an update file
[18:47:06] <nesral> also, why rename it to the update.zip? I've noticed the option to "apply update.zip", but never used it; I've just gone to the "install .zip from sd card". I assumed they were kind of the same thing. What's in a name?
[18:47:39] <tur42keys> it can be any name for a fastboot flash, I just told you to rename it so it's easier to type
[18:49:22] <nesral> oh haha
