[11:55:43] <Jonas_> Hi. I'm trying to get the metrics to work. Everything seems fine, except for the view in cerberus. It only shows a single empty graph (CPU) for some zones.
[11:55:59] <Jonas_> the data arrives in dalmatinerdb
[11:56:26] <Jonas_> a respective query shows a moving graph with new data (dalmatinerdbhost:8080)
[11:57:12] <Jonas_> unfortunately I do not get the problem from the error messages

[15:40:34] <frank2> Hello, when adding datasets they are added, but are stuck at 0% importing. How can i debug this?
[16:42:27] <frank2> Oh, disabling s3. worked.
[16:50:29] <frank2> I am unable to set resolvers, is this a normal thing?
[17:03:09] <Licenser> frank2 if you don't have s3 set up then yes you have to disable s3 that's documented too
[17:03:38] <frank2> Licenser: yeah I did that, after reading that docs :)
[17:04:01] <frank2> Licenser: how about the "create" not able to click?
[17:04:58] <Licenser> it's red aka: not validating
[17:05:11] <Licenser> try w/o the whitespaces
[17:05:24] <frank2> Licenser: I did that, same thing.
[17:05:43] <Licenser> can you enter a single ip?
[17:06:01] <frank2> No
[17:06:09] <frank2> Same thing, even with 8.8.8.8
[17:07:36] <frank2> blank as well
[17:24:46] <Licenser> then please file a bug at jira.project-fifo.net and we'll work that once when we got a bit of time.
[17:25:08] <Licenser> oh actually, you have not created or selected a network
[17:25:11] <Licenser> there is your problem
[17:25:54] <frank2> oh, sorry. Thanks Licenser
[17:26:06] <Licenser> didn't see it either in the first moment ;)

[22:13:10] <frank2> Does project fifo use the leofs as a storage backend for the VMs/Zones? Or is that on the FS?
[22:13:41] *** ipalreadytaken <ipalreadytaken!~ipalready@12.87.13.10> has joined #project-FiFo
[22:13:41] *** ChanServ sets mode: +o ipalreadytaken
[22:14:33] <ipalreadytaken> frank2: leo is used for datasets and backups
[22:14:38] <ipalreadytaken> but you do not have to use it
[22:16:00] <frank2> ipalreadytaken: aha, how does the VM transfers work?
[22:16:14] <ipalreadytaken> there is no live transfer
[22:16:25] <ipalreadytaken> you can backup to leo, restore to a different hyper
[22:16:45] <ipalreadytaken> but any of the os's that fifo supports do not support "live migration"
[22:16:51] <frank2> ah ok, so no failover?
[22:17:55] <ipalreadytaken> mind explaining your application and goals. prehaps i can explain the fifo approach
[22:19:59] <frank2> ipalreadytaken: Just curious. There would be many different applications. From advanced systems to wordpress hosting to mailservers
[22:20:14] <frank2> ipalreadytaken: not specifically written for failover-operations
[22:22:41] <frank2> mind me, I think not having failover storage is great. the systems like that mostly cause more problems than its worth
[22:23:31] <ipalreadytaken> the basic idea is that fail over should happen at the application layer.
[22:23:36] <frank2> yeah
[22:23:43] <frank2> i agree
[22:23:48] <frank2> for whats that worth :P
[22:23:49] <ipalreadytaken> databases, wordpress, mailserver should all be pretty trivial
[22:24:32] <ipalreadytaken> leo is just a S3 distributed storage. so if you use leo for fifo there is nothting keeping you from creating additonal buckets and using it as a distributed storage
[22:24:51] <ipalreadytaken> also leo has a nfs server, so you can just nfs mount a bucket
[22:26:03] <ipalreadytaken> so using wordpress forexample. you could have 2 nginx servers with the app code, 2 postgres with MasterMaster rep, and use leo for user files. stick varnish and bgp or carp infront of all that and you should be pretty resilant
[22:27:10] <ipalreadytaken> the tricky applicaitons are going to be the ones that use some non replicating database, but almost evything has had warm standby for a long time now.
