The helping hint came from lunaphyte (as usual :)) my printer config tries to AUTH whenever the fields (username/pwd) contains anything. At the moment I removed the fields AUTH was not used and connection succeeds. But why not using a /32 mask in mynetworks for this printer ?
[14:45:59] <d3lphi> also I don't understand yet, why the setting smtpd_sasl_exceptions didn't work. In my understanding, postfix should not offer AUTH for this client at all, regardless what config the printer had.

[16:31:19] <n_1-c_k> tibyke, my logs show smtp and smtpd using TLSv1.3 from time to time.
[16:31:49] <tibyke> my one keeps saying TLSv1.2, even for google. I will make some deeper jump then :) thx!
[16:32:11] <rob0> (And there's nothing wrong with messing around with *_tls_mandatory_protocols as long as your users/partners are aware of the limitations which are set.)
[16:32:57] <tibyke> I have SSL* disabled, TLS* disabled, only TLSv1.2 (and now TLSv1.3 enabled)
[16:35:49] <rob0> very bad to do that on port 25, smtpd_tls_protocols
[16:36:56] <rob0> That means if an old, unmaintained client connects and wants to use one of the protocols you deemed "bad", it will have to fall back to plaintext, no TLS at all.
[16:44:54] <lunaphyte> following misguided "how to secure your postfix" tutorials is not a good idea
[16:45:09] <lunaphyte> way too many people think that the www and the internet are the same thing, sadly

[17:27:46] <imcdona> I have postfix acting as an SMTP firewall in front of a pair of fax servers. When people send faxes via email they want to know right away if the fax was sent or not. To that end I thought I'd use "maximal_queue_lifetime=60s" That way if the fax server is unavail for some reason the sender will get an NDR right away. Problem is, Postfix isn't sending an NDR when the fax server is down. The message is sitting there in queue
[17:27:46] <imcdona> regardless of what I'd set for maximal_queue_lifetime
[17:29:26] <imcdona> I'm not even sure if maximal_queue_lifetime is the correct way to go about this. The other thought I had is that this will also affect NDR's being sent to the fax sender...if their MTA is unreachable I'm only going to queue that NDR for 60 seconds max
[17:29:39] <rob0> IIRC maximal_queue_lifetime only kicks in on the first RETRY
[17:30:19] <imcdona> That would make sense. I'll check out the retry timer
[17:32:37] <rob0> there's no simple setting for that, see qmgr(8)
