[03:10:18] <pj> not that everyone doesn't already know this, but it should be pointed out that most distros include an init (or similar) script that has a restart command for postfix. Behind the scenes this script simply issues the equivelent of a postfix stop followed by a postfix start.
[03:13:22] <pj> if you're using a distro-packaged version of postfix you really should use that init script to restart postfix, as it will do certain other distro-specific things such as tracking pid numbers. Stop and Start postfix directly can bypass that tracking and cause confusion or errors the next time the init script is used.

[05:19:06] <pj> !jamm should be updated or removed, considering that it's a very old document that recommends old software.
[05:20:34] <tharkun> pj: aloha! how is winter comming alog?
[05:20:41] <pj> tharkun: cold

[05:24:30] <pj> yeah, I can understand that.
[05:29:47] <rob0> pj, I did update !jamm awhile back; actually, it was a part of the !ldap factoid, and it called it "a worthy project", ugh.
[05:30:15] <rob0> Maybe just take out the " See also !jamm"
[05:30:55] <pj> yeah, and I would make !jamm say: see !tutorial

[05:34:00] <pj> yeah, fair enough
[05:34:13] <rob0> pppingme, oh, indeed. I use it only in postscreen as one point, requiring 3 points to block.
[05:34:31] <pj> it is a good example, though of how even a good tutorial is a bad reference, as this sort of thing happens over time, but people keep recommending it.

[05:36:32] <pj> need to change that to a different service as that link no longer works
[05:37:52] <pj> pppingme: zen is my favorite by far.
[05:38:47] <pppingme> yeah, I'm completely blocking on zen, and with checking zen first most other lists just don't generate that many hits, with the exception of b.barracudacentral.org
[05:39:35] * pj nods
[05:39:53] <rob0> BRBL is good and effective, but it's automated, and does not exempt ISPs. I've had real mail blocked when using BRBL to reject. I now only use it in scoring as "tier 2".
[05:40:41] <pj> ugh, just got on spamcop again.
[05:42:56] <lunaphyte> tharkun: it's microsoft! there are all kinds of caveats! :)
[05:43:31] <lunaphyte> one big caveat is that only a subset of data in active directory is by default published via ldap.
[05:43:51] <lunaphyte> often you'll have to either adjust that, or use the gc port [or both]

[19:19:38] <rob0> no, I am not aware of anyone having done such filtering in Postfix. But I think kmail supports TNEF
[19:22:01] <xai> I agree, however here's requied by some people an MTA for special situation. My job is to understand, how difficult is to do that.
