[16:15:32] <adaptr> you probably mean you can no longer send mail with Evolution as your MUA
[16:16:00] <adaptr> likely causes are changes in your postfix configuration, or Evolution doesn't set the correct sender address while you're using SASL
[16:25:30] *** k31th has joined #postfix
[16:30:41] <k31th> Guys, I am moving DNS records for some domains... I was thinking if i change MX records some people sending mail to the domain will get the new and some will get the old server due to DNS caching. Now what is the best way to over come this? remove there domain for postfix so it bounces there mail? or setup some sort of rule to forward there mail to the new mail server via IP?
[16:30:53] <k31th> or is there another option i don't know about ?
[16:31:36] <lennard> you could always yell 4xx for those domains
[16:32:05] <k31th> I dont understand lennard ? is that a joke or?
[16:32:12] <lennard> no its not
[16:32:31] <lennard> 4xx, as in, a reply code starting with 4
[16:32:35] <adaptr> k31th that is why you don't change MX records
[16:32:46] <lennard> it kinda means 'I cant help you right now but try again later'
[16:32:58] <adaptr> you add a new one and configure the old server to redirect everythign to the new one, then decommission the old MX record a day or so later
[16:32:59] <k31th> lennard: I see.
[16:33:20] <lennard> but, personally, I'd go with the forwarding
[16:33:29] <k31th> adaptr: yeah I know it's a pita :(
[16:33:36] <adaptr> then don't
[16:33:40] <k31th> has to be done tho
[16:34:10] <lennard> yeah, I'll be doing that as well sometime in the future
[16:34:34] <lennard> simply because I currently have way too many hostnames pointing to the 1 mailserver
[16:34:38] <lennard> kinda lose track
[16:34:48] <k31th> lennard: yeah.

[22:14:42] <Flawless> Can anybody recommend a mailing list manager to go with postfix? Either something really lightweight, or something that runs on postgresql
[22:15:00] <Flawless> I know that almost all mailing list softwares can probably run with just about any MTA
[22:15:10] <Flawless> but maybe some integrate especially well with postfix?
[22:15:20] <Flawless> Maybe I can even do small lists with _just_ postfix?
[22:17:56] <el_cubano> Flawless: If the lists were small you could put the groups into LDAP and manage them that way relatively easily.
[22:18:31] <Flawless> el_cubano: I'd prefer not to set up ldap
[22:18:55] <Flawless> I'm trying to set this up on secure production servers, and having yet-another piece of software to maintain (and run!) is a big deal :)
[22:21:26] <sysmonk> Flawless: you could just edit the alias files :P
[22:21:29] <sysmonk> by hand :)
[22:21:34] <Flawless> Hmm, yeah ;)

[22:23:57] <sysmonk> oh, you want bcc?
