[13:11:58] <_deruntote_> hey, can someone help me with a zfs problem?
[13:12:40] <_deruntote_> I mirrored my zfs rpool from my usb 16gb stick to my new ssd 120gb. Installed on an OmniOS with Nappit to go. Now i want to detach my usb stick and grow/auto expand the rpool. but it dosnt work. i set autoexpand property to on, set it new online with zpool online -e rpool c3d1s0. but still the same size and now i dont have an idea what i can do to use the whole disk
[13:12:52] <_deruntote_> anyone has another idea what i can do? Perhaps its just not possible to grow the volume of rpools ?

[13:31:34] <_deruntote_> thx gea
[13:31:46] <_deruntote_> this tutorial was the only one i found =)
[13:31:55] <_deruntote_> but its too long, i wasnt sure

[13:42:01] <_deruntote_> can u help me on one point on this tutorial?
[13:42:01] <_deruntote_> 27. Press p and enter again to print the partition
[13:42:23] <_deruntote_> the next steps.. i dont get how to calculate the new values for partitionsize
[13:43:17] <_deruntote_> or does anyone has the PDF ? ^^
[13:43:36] <_deruntote_> gea still there?
[13:44:22] <ghost75_> if yes i would like to know if omnios has any way to use WOL
[13:49:00] <ghost75_> _deruntote: i guess its start and endsector as listed in partition tool (gparted)
[13:50:45] <gea> I have not done that myself but it is basically a recreation of the partition with the same beginning and a larger size.
[13:50:47] <gea> You can use the default end (use all)
[13:50:48] <gea> @ghost75_: is suppose no
[13:51:06] <ghost75_> ok
[13:51:15] <_deruntote_> whats this backup partition?
[13:51:47] <ghost75_> one thing i dont understand, if you delete a partiton and recreate it, why is the data not lost?
[13:52:01] <_deruntote_> its zfs
[13:52:07] <_deruntote_> magic goblins do all the work..
[13:52:43] <_deruntote_> great the default end is still the 16gb size of previous usb stick
[13:52:48] <_deruntote_> god damn
[13:54:22] <ghost75_> cant believe that zfs has no resize
[13:55:14] <_deruntote_> hmmm i cant resize the backup partition
[13:55:25] <ghost75_> why
[13:55:52] <_deruntote_> Warning: Partition with V_BACKUP tag should specify full disk capacity.
[13:56:15] <ghost75_> beyond my scope :>
[13:56:25] <ghost75_> just reinstall it
[13:56:33] <_deruntote_> nooooooooo
[13:56:40] <_deruntote_> okay isped 8hrs with this problem
[13:57:00] <_deruntote_> more then i needed to get that far after install = )

[13:59:05] <_deruntote_> Total disk cylinders available: 14590 + 2 (reserved cylinders)
[13:59:18] <_deruntote_> 14590 - before cylinder count

[13:59:49] <_deruntote_> uh i did the last calculate wrong

[14:01:48] <_deruntote_> okay i dont know what this backup is for
[14:01:49] <_deruntote_> but who needs backups ..
[14:01:53] <_deruntote_> rpool 97G
[14:02:55] <ghost75_> so you deleted zfs partition without mirror and created again?
[14:03:03] <_deruntote_> yes, yesterday
[14:03:11] <_deruntote_> i finished it with the format command
[14:03:23] <_deruntote_> gparted wasnt enoth
[14:03:34] <_deruntote_> ure new to zfs? unix ?
[14:03:44] <ghost75_> so where is the part to keep data oO
[14:04:25] <_deruntote_> its all virtual. Partitions are just entry points. Pointer to a single place where a partition starts.
[14:04:47] <_deruntote_> now the OS comes and start reading from this point and find perhaps informations about the filesystem
[14:04:49] <_deruntote_> i didnt change the startingpoint of the partition. only the finishingpoint
[14:05:17] <_deruntote_> no blocks are changes if you change the partitiontable.
[14:06:35] <ghost75_> hmm ok
[14:06:45] <_deruntote_> and its not that complex if u change a normal zpool
[14:07:11] <_deruntote_> under windows its most times just not possible to do things like that
[14:07:31] <ghost75_> its possible
[14:07:53] <ghost75_> diskpart
[14:08:43] <_deruntote_> ya but not while its running and windows is running on this disk
[14:08:44] <_deruntote_> ;)
[14:08:57] <_deruntote_> my girlfriend want to wath her seasons in livingroom. cant go offline xD
[14:09:01] <ghost75_> even this i think
[14:09:30] <_deruntote_> okay
[14:09:48] <_deruntote_> another question. is there a simple init.d script around perfect for omnios?
[14:10:44] <_deruntote_> i want to start virtualbox on boot with phpvirtualbox
[14:10:50] <ghost75_> is this not deprecated
[14:12:37] <gea> napp-it starts via /etc/init.d/napp-it, you can use it as a template
[14:14:50] <_deruntote_> k, hmm a good kill command for vboxwebsrv ??
[14:15:06] <_deruntote_> just the same u did pkill -f "napp-it-mhttpd"
[14:16:19] <ghost75_> svcadm
[14:20:00] <_deruntote_> i think it works now
[14:20:09] <_deruntote_> gea, thx for your help today. u deliver a great appliance with your napp it.
[14:20:34] <_deruntote_> perhaps in feature i will buy a private licence from you ; )

[17:31:16] <pf_DE> now I check the crashdump, but what should I do with it? I have no experience
