[13:24:12] <acron17> the other problem is: i use WorkbenchLabelProvider.getDecoratingWorkbenchLabelProvider() as the label provider to the listviewer (as i've seen this at other places)
[13:24:46] <acron17> i would expect that this labelprovider would also show the proper icons for the projects but none are shown...

[16:55:44] <srm> Hi there. When copying a folder in a project, that is associated to a svn repository (using subversive), how can I avoid that the .svn folders are copied too?
[16:57:05] <ron> srm: when copying it from where to where?
[16:57:30] <srm> say, src/main/config/mydir to src/main/config/mydircopy
[16:58:09] <srm> ah wait,didn't see the team-> copy to menu...maybe I should try this
[16:59:07] <srm> yes, that worked. still, I would have expected that Eclipse (helios) is aware of the svn property and therefor not copy the .svn folders.
[16:59:42] <ron> it's got nothing to do with eclipse. if anything, subversive should be the one to control it.
[17:00:22] <srm> ok, thanks for the clarification
[17:00:47] <ron> to eclipse, a directory is a directory :)
[17:01:09] <ron> sounds like an edge case, really. I don't really see the need to do that normally.
[17:01:54] <srm> the case is to easily create different config-directories (they are used in a deployment process), so the best thing to add a new config, is to copy an old copy and edit it :)

[17:08:47] <SimpsonTP> is it possible to orient the tabs of editor windows on the side of the window with helios ?
[17:09:29] <srm> ron: no, there's only one maven profile "deploy". after packaging, the antrun plugin is used to deploy the packages to a CoreMedia installation and the tomcat instance used in it. to determine the correct configuration files (properties, xml), a ${target.system} variable is used to choose the correct configuration dir to pull the config files from.
[17:10:00] <ron> srm: umm.. lost me after about 3 words :) but I trust your judgement :)

[21:59:03] <rcjsuen> I thought you said it works

[22:14:19] <rcjsuen> I don't know how closely you followed this person's tutorial but your file is in the wrong place and you're also violating a basic Java fundamenta.
[22:15:05] <javanoob> i can accept that, im learning and will make lots of mistakes
[22:15:30] <javanoob> could you explain briefly what you have seen that is wrong
[22:17:40] <javanoob> i can see now, after your comment, the file should be in the SRC folder and nowhere near the library folder
[22:18:48] <javanoob> i would really like to know rcjsuen: what is the basic fundamental i am breaking ? thanks for the help
[22:21:23] <rcjsuen> Did you move your file to the src folder?

[22:28:36] <InsertNickHere> hm... not in my home directory. Anyone know where I can find my workspace?
[22:28:52] <InsertNickHere> oh ffs
[22:28:56] <InsertNickHere> I know what's wrong
[22:29:08] <InsertNickHere> I installed from the system administrator account, it probably put it there
[22:29:11] <deSilva> InsertNickHere: first time you launched eclipse it would have asked you where you want your workspace, and the default suggestion is in your home directory
[22:29:31] <InsertNickHere> deSilva: and if I launched it from a different account, it would go there, right?
[22:30:10] <deSilva> I dont think you can access another user's files unless, maybe, you are admin and they are not
[22:30:30] <InsertNickHere> well I'm not admin, system admin is obviously
[22:30:38] <InsertNickHere> Is there some way to find where it is?
[22:30:58] *** acron17 has quit IRC
[22:31:07] <deSilva> well, if you ran it as admin and accepted the suggestion for workspace it is located in admin's home directory
[22:31:45] <InsertNickHere> that.... is messed up. Is there any way to confirm it?
[22:32:30] <InsertNickHere> And you're basically telling me that each user should have his or her own eclipse installation?
[22:32:47] <deSilva> an installation is not a workspace
[22:33:10] <InsertNickHere> yes, but it seems like each installation only has 1 workspace across all users
[22:34:31] <rcjsuen> There can be N workspaces for M instalations.
[22:35:29] <InsertNickHere> um, so eclipse doesn't ask to make a new workspace whenever a different user uses it
[22:36:41] <rcjsuen> It's a setting to whether prompt or not. I'm not sure what the default is.
[22:36:47] <rcjsuen> I think the default is to prompt.

[22:45:43] <InsertNickHere> I don't remember a prompt
[22:45:54] <InsertNickHere> I need to reinstall the adt and eclipse, fml
[22:47:20] <deSilva> if you start eclipse with -showLocation I think it is, it will show in the titlebar where the workspace is

[23:51:16] <InsertNickHere> if you're going to be a coder, then you will then to work with coding language...
[23:51:27] <InsertNickHere> all java classes are stored in sets of files called packages
[23:51:54] <InsertNickHere> if you do not explicitly declare one, it is put in the default package - basically a package of all files without declared packages
[23:52:09] <InsertNickHere> This affects access control and is undesired
[23:52:21] <InsertNickHere> Because anyone else can access your class if it has package access control
[23:52:26] <InsertNickHere> Now, your main class needs to be public
[23:52:39] <InsertNickHere> before "class apples", write public
[23:52:39] *** mavior has quit IRC

[23:54:39] <javanooby> i didnt even declare the main class to another package

[23:55:20] <rcjsuen> That's hard to believe.
[23:55:25] <rcjsuen> Given that your class was called testing.java
[23:55:41] <javanooby> it asked me to rename apples
[23:55:51] <javanooby> i did to the suggested "testing"
[23:56:09] <InsertNickHere> yes, public classes must be named what their file name is
