[01:35:08] <rcjsuen> just tried it, works for me

[02:03:05] <rcjsuen> you're still referring to find/all right
[02:03:15] <rcjsuen> i mean find/replace
[02:03:25] <tuxfusion> there must be some serious prop i have no idea
[02:04:01] <alankila> tuxfusion: the button problem is GTK+ issue.
[02:04:32] <rcjsuen> alankila: yes, in hindsight it is not clear to me if search/replace did not work
[02:04:37] <rcjsuen> or if the buttons were not responding
[02:04:40] <rcjsuen> we should clarify this
[02:04:51] <alankila> the suggestion on the intternets is GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1
[02:05:51] <alankila> GTK+, that wonderbox of fail. Every time there's a new version, it seems eclipse breaks for me.
[02:06:24] <alankila> last time it segfaulted on combo boxes and now I have to use keyboard shortcuts or hit enter in dialogs because the default button usually doesn't work anymore
[02:06:28] <rcjsuen> Can't say I've really had any problems. This time is quite a major change though.
[02:06:56] <alankila> and I've only tracked eclipse over two gtk+ versions, since 2.16 to 2.18, so I don't know if there'll be third breakage on 2.19. I expect so, based on so far.
[02:08:25] *** Aemis has quit IRC

[02:08:50] *** Aemis has joined #eclipse
[02:09:18] <alankila> on the upside, it does seem like GTK+ is pretty fast today. I used to gnash my teeth on the fact that when running the VICE C64 emulator x64 used to take like 60 % of CPU with the GTK+ output, and now it takes only about 20 % and rest of the system isn't seeing a resource drain either
[02:09:40] <alankila> so clearly gtk+ is gradually improving
[02:11:04] *** sako has left #eclipse
[02:12:52] <tuxfusion> GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 is an enviroment var ?
[02:12:56] <alankila> yes
[02:13:14] <alankila> you can try it out by launching eclipse from shell with a command like "GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 eclipse"
[02:13:44] *** Kaio_monolith has joined #eclipse
[02:13:48] <alankila> I suppose I should try it out as well, but I am already working around the issue in another way, so I don't care about this problem

[02:14:25] <alankila> keyboard shortcuts
[02:14:30] <rcjsuen> ah, right
[02:14:45] <rcjsuen> tuxfusion: Eh? The widget toolkit is called GTK+.
[02:14:58] <alankila> no, the option is for GDK. The GTK and GDK have a relationship in that GTK is built on top of it, which is a kind of event framework of some kind
[02:15:40] <tuxfusion> okay thx never heard of gdk
[02:15:48] <alankila> as programmer of GTK+ it's mostly annoying in that sometimes you have g_foo, sometimes gdk_foo and sometimes gtk_foo. If you don't know the responsibilities between them approximately you'll be puzzled and always try the wrong names
[02:16:21] <alankila> gdk also provides all sorts of underlying support like image format conversions and some of the storage containers for them like the pixbufs
[02:16:44] <tuxfusion> well i set GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 so that $GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS returns "1" , but sadly no effect
[02:16:57] <alankila> damn. It ought to have worked.
[02:17:11] <rcjsuen> You're on GTK+ 2.17.x / 2.18.x, right?
[02:17:17] <tuxfusion> ill just downgrade gtk2 then i guess
[02:17:19] <alankila> http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8086714
[02:17:21] <alankila> I have 2.18
[02:17:29] <rcjsuen> And pressing buttons in wizards doesn't work, right?
[02:17:33] <alankila> right
[02:18:03] <alankila> well, some work, I think, but not all. I don't find it makes much sense

[16:32:17] <paulweb515> BlackMage: I guess you need to narrow what you want to do ... PDE automated build allows you to check out and build your features and plugins, and potentially generate products, update sites, and p2 repos
[16:33:14] <paulweb515> BlackMage: you can use File>Export...>Deployable plugins and fragments to simply deploy a plugin, and one of the options is to save it as an ant buildscript
[16:33:40] <BlackMage> i will build a update site
[16:33:41] <paulweb515> BlackMage: that ant script should allow you to end up with a org.example.myplugin_1.0.0.qualifier.jar
[16:33:57] <paulweb515> BlackMage: after that you would have to decide what to do with the jar
[16:38:16] <BlackMage> paulweb515> BlackMage: you can use File>Export...>Deployable plugins and fragments to simply deploy a plugin, and one of the options is to save it as an ant buildscript -> i will build it automatic with a shell script
[16:39:53] <paulweb515> BlackMage: my point is you have a jar ... to what end. As of 3.4.x deploying a plugin jar into anything is a nightmare without p2 metadata
[16:41:13] <BlackMage> o.o

[18:01:27] *** Kudd has quit IRC
[18:01:41] <atpa8a> BlackMage: means you using features which are not compatible with either JDK or eclipse settings
[18:02:15] <atpa8a> Preferences -> Java -> Compiler
[18:02:42] <rcjsuen> some inconsistency between your project's settings and/or your java sources and/or the JRE your project is using, these are the possible combinations
