[05:01:22] <ScottCochran> hello all
[05:02:56] <deshantm> hello
[05:05:12] <ScottCochran> Sitting on hold with Citrix.... Client is having issues with External access
[05:05:24] <ScottCochran> The infamous "Protocol Driver Error"
[05:06:27] <deshantm> what product?
[05:06:50] <ScottCochran> XenApp 4.5
[05:07:15] <ScottCochran> Accessing from External using NetScaler/CAG gives that error
[05:07:23] <ScottCochran> Internal access is working fine...
[05:07:28] <ScottCochran> Firewall looks good
[05:09:31] <deshantm> I work more on the open source side. Xen.org stuff. I haven't used XenApp yet
[05:09:48] <deshantm> what do you use it for?
[05:09:54] *** Meson has quit IRC
[05:11:47] <ScottCochran> Citrix Access Gateway (CAG) provides SSL encryption for External users. CAG is also now a feature built in to NetScaler appliances
[05:12:37] <ScottCochran> deshantm maybe you can help me with another issue I am having with XenServer
[05:15:10] <deshantm> ScottCochran: you can ask. I'll do my best to give suggestions
[05:16:10] <ScottCochran> I just built a XenServer 5.6 FP1 cluster and have migrated 30 physcial servers over the past 2 weeks. Twice now the pool master's log file have filled up all the space in Dom0 causing it to crash. It basically crashes the XAPI service. I am able SSH to the host, delete the logs, reboot the sever, and it starts up working fine...
[05:17:14] <ScottCochran> The first time I changed the logs to keep only 5 instead of 20. The second time was today and I changed it to 1 time but cant figure out why they are growing so big
[05:18:28] <deshantm> ScottCochran: can you pastebin the xapi log somewhere?
[05:18:37] <deshantm> even just a big chunk of it
[05:18:52] <ScottCochran> brb
[05:23:42] <ScottCochran> deshantm I dont see a XAPI log in the /var/log directory
[05:24:04] <ScottCochran> the other log files are the ones filling up and causing XAPI to crash
[05:24:18] <deshantm> ScottCochran: /var/log/xensource I think
[05:25:12] <ScottCochran> okay you want the Xensource.log?
[05:28:22] <deshantm> sure.. also which logs are the ones that are filling up specifically?
[05:29:54] <ScottCochran> pretty much all of them in /var/logs get big
[05:30:13] <ScottCochran> kernel, daemon, audit
[05:32:05] <deshantm> the xensource.log is the xapi log, so that might have some hints
[05:32:25] <deshantm> can you pastebin a few of the logs, probably it will turn out to be clear from the logs
[05:32:39] <deshantm> /var/log/SMlog is also a good one
[05:39:16] <ScottCochran> okay here is xensource, I will post SMlog in a minute.... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YiNa1K2iyNpy57MgyTT9pxcnEsL5-5ZSZGIkX5EUD70/edit?hl=en

[05:54:25] <deshantm> ScottCochran: I'm back now...taking a look
[05:54:39] <deshantm> are they filling up currently?
[05:55:25] <deshantm> try running watch ls -lh /var/log/*
[06:00:19] <ScottCochran> sorry im back... I deleted them all this afternoon let me see
[06:04:34] <deshantm> ScottCochran: the other logs don't look too terrible
[06:05:09] <ScottCochran> deshantm they are definitely growing. Log folder is at 47 MB since about 4pm
[06:05:27] <deshantm> the unknown message rpc ones don't look great... but not likely the cause
[06:05:30] <ScottCochran> it will fill up the drive within a few days I suspecvt
[06:05:53] <deshantm> ls -lh /var/log/* to see which ones are biggest
[06:14:56] <ScottCochran> deshantm xensource.log is the biggest right now at 3 MB
[06:16:28] <deshantm> ScottCochran: tail -f /var/log/xensource.log to watch what is being added
[06:16:36] <deshantm> see if you notice a trend of any kind
[06:23:54] <deshantm> be back tomorrow

[19:13:26] <Alasdairrr> It's a Dell R410 with 2 x E5504 CPUs and 32GB of ram
[19:13:40] <kreign> it's been a long time since I've gotten a corrupt iso, but I think every single one of them has been from msdn.
[19:13:45] <Alasdairrr> If it was a memory error I'd be expecting MuchWorseThings[tm]]
[19:13:58] <kreign> yeah you'd have stigmata going on, totally
[19:14:01] <Alasdairrr> Yeah, they use akami and they seem to suck at large ISO files - this isn't the first time
[19:14:25] <kreign> IDK who else uses them but I've only ever had issue with stuff from MS.
[19:15:50] <Alasdairrr> Bleh, downloading it via the download manager tool hasn't helped - same error
[19:16:13] <Alasdairrr> "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
[19:17:29] <Alasdairrr> http://forums.citrix.com/message.jspa?messageID=1420989
[19:17:40] <Alasdairrr> This definitely seems to suggest I'm getting a corrupt file
[19:17:53] <Alasdairrr> Perhaps the ISO is corrupt on the CDN Microsoft are using
[19:19:11] <kreign> Alasdairrr, would not be surprising.
[19:34:45] <Alasdairrr> Amazingly, "ejecting" and re-selecting the ISO from the dvd dropdown within xenserver has fixed it
[19:35:00] <Alasdairrr> doh, spoke too soon.. "Windows cannot access the required file..."
[19:38:38] <kreign> nice.
[19:39:34] <Alasdairrr> I'm going to attempt to mount the ISO via the Dell's DRAC card, so that Citrix sees it as a "real" DVD in the local DVD drive
[19:41:57] <Alasdairrr> that worked
[19:42:00] <Alasdairrr> lame
[19:42:07] <kreign> Alasdairrr, not sure how to try it, but you could mount the iso on the host underneath shared storage, maybe
[19:42:10] <kreign> Alasdairrr, :|
[19:44:47] <kreign> hmm
[19:45:19] <Alasdairrr> I'm making the ISOs available to XenServer via an NFS share from a Sun 7210 SAN
