[01:37:23] <davidjames> srao: Yes the logs are consistent with the failure being timing based. Note that power_manager succeeded on retry
[01:37:27] <cmasone> srao: either way, a unit test should not be time sensitive; if it is, it's not a proper unit test :-/

[01:38:35] <cmasone> I have a CQ question
[01:38:45] <sosa> cmasone: shoot
[01:39:01] <cmasone> sosa: I'm reasonably certain that a change I have pending will conflict with David's, which is currently being CQ'd.
[01:39:27] <cmasone> sosa: is there anything I can do to pre-emptively rebase my change and re-upload? So that I don't have to wait for the C!Q to cycle twice?
[01:40:35] <davidjames> cmasone: I don't think there is any way to do that right now... :( However, you can mark your change as 'not ready' so that my change doesn't get thrown out as well by the commit queue. (When conflicts happen, commit queue sometimes gets upset and throws out all the changes as revenge ;) )
[01:41:05] <cmasone> davidjames: well, your change got booted anyhow, and now it's trying mine and an unrelated change
[01:41:51] <sosa> i have theories, but i haven't tried it before. i have a bug to resolve this which i plan to address this week. The theory is you could check out his change in a branch and rebase your change on top of that and upload. creating a dependency in the CL which the commit queue should be able to pick up -- i.e. not easy but possible.
[01:41:55] <davidjames> cmasone: Ah, you're the lucky one then :)
[01:42:45] <cmasone> davidjames: muahahahahahaaaaa
[01:42:48] <sosa> i however plan to land a change to just tell you to rebase your change if it conflicts with david's after his is committed and not tell you anything until then. i'm happy to offline talk about better ideas to manage this.
[01:43:27] *** rbyers_ has quit IRC

[01:44:18] <sosa> it could...i haven't actually found it very useful

[01:45:05] <davidjames> Most useful would be if it actually listed directly what changes it conflicted with
[01:45:36] <davidjames> If not, a link to the blamelist would be enough for me to guess at the conflict
[01:45:58] <cmasone> davidjames: the blamelist is in the CommitQueueSync step
[01:46:05] <cmasone> davidjames: links right to the gerrit CLs
[01:46:34] <davidjames> cmasone: Yup, but also want link from Gerrit to the build log :)
[01:46:45] <davidjames> (when CQ posts on gerrit to tell me 'rebase failed')

[19:01:55] <ojn> (or not). I hit an issue last week with glibc that was similar, but left the chroot completely broken.
[19:02:10] <ojn> One would think that we could keep the old libraries around even after a toolchain upgrade?
[19:02:14] <marcheu> maybe we should gather all the chroot-breaking commits from time to time, so that we only replace them once
[19:03:07] <ojn> Or, maybe we shouldn't break the chroots at all.
[19:04:20] <cmasone> ojn: I think they try to do so
